A Strange & Winding Road: Day 24

Poppy (to Vincent): Good morning, honey. I've got coffee brewing.

Vincent (to Poppy): Mmmm, have I told you yet this morning that you're a wonderful person, hun?

Poppy (to Vincent): Heehee... Would you like some breakfast too, Mister Potter?

Vincent (to Poppy): Oh dear. Breakfast as well? Have I gone and domesticated you, Mrs. Potter?

Poppy (to Vincent): Dear god, I hope not! I was just feeling hungry and didn't want to leave you out.

Vincent (to Poppy): Hee hee. I should hope not myself! Breakfast would be wonderful, lover.

Poppy (to Vincent): Breakfast it is then... Do you think Miranda will be alright, honey?

Vincent (to Poppy): I hope so. I really do. Speaking of crazy choices, have you heard from Percy about the Professor?

Poppy (to Vincent): Percy said that Jacob returned to the house and stayed inside for a day, then went through the portal. Hopefully, whatever crazy notion he had in his head is gone.

Vincent (to Poppy): I certainly hope so. I understand romance and adventure, but... I'm glad he's safe at any rate.

Poppy (to Vincent): Me too, honey.

A short time later:

Miranda: Maltese Falcon, come in, Falcon... Do you read me, Falcon?

Vincent (to Miranda): Roger. This is the airship The Maltese Falcon. Is that you, Miranda?

Miranda (to Vincent): Aye, Vincent. I'm glad I've got a hold of you. Do you think you or the missus could get your hands on a spare airship?

Vincent (to Miranda): Ah. Well... I'm not sure, hun. Marauding isn't really my bag. What's up?

Miranda (to Vincent): We need an emergency supply run and well... we received word from the Empress herself, that she would like an audience with Belinda to discuss the present situation in Rangoon. I was hoping that I could fly her to New London.

Vincent (to Miranda): Really? Heh. Somehow I get the feeling I'm going to owe the Professor an apology. Let me see if Poppy has any favors she can cash in. We'll see what we can do for you. Can we reach you at this frequency?

Miranda (to Vincent): We'll be on this frequency for the next two days & then we'll have to switch, CLANNG's been breaking the encryption fairly quickly. Belinda says Thank you. And, if you see the Professor tell him thank you from me, as well.

Vincent (to Miranda): Understood. Stay safe! Tell Belinda the same.

Miranda (to Vincent): Will do, Vincent!

Vincent: Huh. That was a thing.

Poppy (to Vincent): What's got you making that face, lover?

Vincent (to Poppy): That was Miranda. She sounded almost good, actually. I don't suppose you know anyone who owes you an airship, do you, lover?

Poppy (to Vincent): Ummm, can't say I do... but give me a few hours. Any particular size or style, honey?

Vincent (to Poppy): I... Uh. Wow. I think they'll be happy with whatever you can get. You're something else, madame. Apparently, Jacob was able to get Belinda an audience with the Empress, and Miranda wants to fly her over.

Poppy (to Vincent): Well that's unexpected... Care to go with me to Padgett's, monsieur? There's usually several pirate captains playing cards in the backroom on Sundays... I think I should be able to get us a ship one way or the other.

Vincent (to Poppy): Hee hee. Oh. I shouldn't be grinning about that idea like I am, hun.

Poppy (to Vincent): I will warn you, honey... If you sit and watch the game, I'm going to use my current condition to my advantage. :-)

Vincent (to Poppy): Heh. I'd expect nothing less. However, I won't hover if it will make you nervous.

Poppy (to Vincent): Not at all, lover... Heh... that will actually come in handy. Do you think you could play up the whole doting, worried father to be? That should be a good distraction... Unless, you don't want to because you might know the pirates. I certainly don't want to ruin your reputation.

Vincent (to Poppy): Heh. I think you overestimate my reputation with my fellow pirates, hun. There are a few who like me, but most think I'm a pretty boy goody two shoes who doesn't deserve the attention he gets.

Poppy (to Vincent): Really? Have they seen you in action? I don't want to stroke your ego but you're pretty impressive.

Vincent (to Poppy): Heh. Well, the answer to that is no. After Alistair, I mostly ran my jobs solo. So, you think I'm impressive, do you?

Poppy (to Vincent): Yes, yes I do... You tend to be a little more flamboyant than I would be, but it works for you... Plus, it's a very good strategy. People underestimate you because of it & gives you an advantage over them. It's quite sneaky & clever.

Vincent (to Poppy): Heh. I could say the same thing about you, hun.

Poppy (to Vincent): Heehee... oh... ow... well, that's new... Woo... I think I need to sit down for a minute.

Vincent (to Poppy): Are you alright, hun? Is everything OK?

Poppy (to Vincent): ... I'm fine, honey. For a second, I thought it was time, but it was just a false alarm...Can you get me a glass of water?

Vincent (to Poppy): Oh good heavens... Of course. I think I just aged 10 years.

Poppy (to Vincent): I'm sorry for the scare, honey. I don't think I drank enough water the last few days with all the traveling, that's all.

Vincent (to Poppy): It's alright, hun. Heh. It shouldn't be too hard for me to play the concerned fretful father, at least.

Poppy (to Vincent): Well then, lover, finish getting yourself dolled up and let's go get ourselves an airship.

Vincent (to Poppy): Yes, ma'am.

Poppy (to Vincent): Heh... It's a good thing I like you, lover.

Vincent (to Poppy): I tell myself that all the time. What do you think, Mrs. Potter? Am I sufficiently dolled?

Poppy (to Vincent): Ummm... Wow... If we didn't have something to do, Mister Potter, I would show you exactly what I thought.

Vincent (to Poppy): Mmmm, we should get going before we get ourselves distracted, lover.

Poppy (to Vincent): Well, that may be the saddest thing I've ever heard.

Vincent (to Poppy): Hee hee. Or, we can just hold on to that thought for later.

Poppy (to Vincent): Oh... Not to worry, lover, I'm holding onto that thought. Especially, while you're wearing that ensemble.

Vincent (to Poppy): I wouldn't dream of taking it off. Not on my own, at any rate.

An hour or so later:

Poppy (to Vincent): Oh, look it's Magdalena... and she's waving at you. I'll head to the backroom, join me when you can, husband.

Vincent (to Poppy): Alright. Give me a kiss before you go, wife. It will annoy Magdalena.

Poppy (to Vincent): Of course... Just make sure you don't forget that, honey.

Vincent (to Poppy): I wouldn't dream of forgetting it, hun.

Poppy (to Vincent): Good... Come and find me when you're done talking to her.

A few minutes later:

Margaux (to Vincent): Hey sugar! If you're here, does that mean my little poptart is around?

Vincent (to Margaux): Oh, hello, Margaux. I was just going to join her, now that I'm finished with my social obligations.

Margaux (to Vincent): When you two get done, come visit me. I'll be sitting over in that corner.

Vincent (to Margaux): It would be our pleasure, hun. We'll see you shortly. (to Poppy) How are you doing, darling? Are you feeling alright? This isn't too much excitement? Would you like some water?

Poppy (to Vincent): I'm fine, honey. I seem to be having a bit of a lucky streak. Do you know Admiral Birdie, the Captains Vane, Nutt, Rackham? Can you find me a pillow? This chair is horribly uncomfortable.

Vincent (to Poppy): Oh, hun! You know you're a terrible card player. I know the Admiral and Captain Rackham. I'm sure they'll be thrilled to tell you all sorts of dreadful stories about me. Don't believe a one of them. Nice to meet you Captain Vane, Captain Nutt. Let me find you a pillow, sweetie… I still think this is FAR too stressful for a woman in your condition.

Poppy (to Vincent): Oh honey, you're probably right, I am feeling a bit exhausted. Though, I'm sure Captain Nutt would prefer that I stay in the game, as I now own the title to his airship, the Balzac.

Vincent (to Poppy): Good heavens! Well, that certainly was lucky. Oh, sweetie! Are you alright? You look pale.

Poppy (to Vincent): Oh... Honey, I think I need to go... Right now!

Vincent: Oh. OH! Oh my goodness! Gentlemen, I'm so sorry my wife has to win and run, but it appears we're about to be parents!

Poppy (to Vincent): Heehee... Did you see the looks on their faces? Priceless... You were fantastic, honey.

Vincent (to Poppy): That was... that was AMAZING, lover. Oh good heavens! With all the excitement, I almost forgot. Margaux wants to see you. Tragically.

Poppy (to Vincent): Oh? Is she here? I don't see her.

Margaux (to Poppy & Vincent): I'm right behind you, poptart... It seems you need to make a hasty retreat so I won't keep you long. I just needed you for cover for a second, so if you could both give me a hug & then skeedaddle. I'd be ever so grateful.

Vincent (to Margaux): Oh. Uh, of course.

Poppy (to Margaux): Oh... I see. Well, it was lovely to see you & I'm glad to see you're recovering nicely, Margaux. Don't be a stranger.

Margaux (to Vincent & Poppy): Oh... and I hear congratulations is in order, Mister & Missus Potter. I hope you both will be very happy. Now, get on out of here before the fun really starts, my little lambikins.

Vincent (to Margaux): Oh dear. Why am I slightly terrified about what you're about start. hun? Well, we're in the area if you need a pick up. (to Poppy) Come on, hun. Let's head out. People are going to start asking why you're not currently in labor.

Margaux (to Vincent): Thank you, sugar, but this is a fairly simple operation. I'll see you two later.

Poppy (to Vincent): Lead the way, honey... And, while we're making our way to the ship. Is there any truth in the story that Admiral Birdie told me about you and a spice trader?

Vincent (to Poppy): Hmmm? What story about me and a spice trader? You know you can't trust what Birdie says, lover. He thinks that rum of his is palpable.

Poppy (to Vincent): Oh, I know, honey... Heehee, It just sounded like something out of Arabian fairy tales. I can see why there are so many fantastic stories about you, though. I feel a bit weak at the knees to be in your presence.

Vincent (to Poppy): Heh. Well, you can ignore all of the rumors you hear. Or, at least most of them. But, I certainly don't mind hearing that I make you weak in the knees. I don't mind that at all.

Poppy (to Vincent): Heh... Would you like to go check out our new ship? Now, that we have a second one, do I have to start calling you Admiral?

Vincent (to Poppy): Hee hee. I suppose so, yes. At least until we turn it over to Miranda. Let's take a look.

Poppy (to Vincent): Aye, aye, Admiral Potter... heehee, I've never made out with an Admiral before, honey.

Vincent (to Poppy): Well, we'll have to rectify that, won't we?

Poppy (to Vincent): I certainly hope so.

Vincent (to Poppy): Shall we adjourn to our new ship and christen it, Mrs... Oh good HEAVENS! What is that smell? Didn't Nutt ever CLEAN her?

Poppy (to Vincent): Oh my god, honey... I think I'm going to be nauseous.

Vincent (to Poppy): You're not the only one... Let's get back to the Falcon. I have never been so happy to be a prissy little nancy boy.

Poppy (to Vincent): Thank goodness for small favors, honey.

Vincent (to Poppy): Small favors and clean airships. Heh. Now. Where were we?

Poppy (to Vincent): Hmmm, I was about to makeout with a pirate Admiral. :-)

Vincent (to Poppy): Oh? That sounds interesting. I was just about to make out with a card sharp and spy. A very cute one, I might add.

Poppy (to Vincent): Heh... Should I be jealous? I mean, days after we're married and you're already making out with other women... :-P

Vincent (to Poppy): Did I mention she's very pregnant? With my child?

Poppy (to Vincent): Wow... You do get around, don't you?

Vincent (to Poppy): Heh. Not in the slightest, lover.

Poppy (to Vincent): Well then, come here, husband of mine.

Vincent (to Poppy): With pleasure.
