Vincent (to Poppy): Hmmm? What? Oh. Hello, Little Man. When did we get home?
Poppy (to Vincent): Yesterday, lover. You were a little bit out of it. Are you hungry? I made grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup.
Vincent (to Poppy): Oh. I'm not sure yet, hun. I should probably try to eat something, though.
Poppy (to Vincent): How are you feeling?
Vincent (to Poppy): Drowsy. I've been asleep for a full day?
Poppy (to Vincent): Yes, honey. I think you needed it... after everything.
Vincent (to Poppy): Oh. Yes. I suppose I must have. Heh. (to Victor) You're awfully smiley, Victor. What's got you so happy?
Poppy (to Vincent): He's probably just happy to see you, honey.
Vincent (to Poppy): I suppose I should enjoy it while I should, soon enough he'll be a teenager and he won't... Oh. Oh. God. I'm gonna to go to jail, aren't I?
Poppy (to Vincent): Whatever for, lover?
Vincent (to Poppy): I killed someone in the house of a favorite son of the Royal Court, hun. I wouldn't imagine that's going to go over well.
Poppy (to Vincent): Honey, how on earth would anyone know about it? Miranda & I took care of it... Besides, it's Britannia not here. Things are very different over there. It'll be fine. You'll be fine.
Vincent (to Poppy): Oh. I... Well, that's a relief, I suppose. It's one less thing to worry about.
Poppy (to Vincent): Were you hoping to go to jail, lover? Because I'm sure I can make arrangements, if you'd like.
Vincent (to Poppy): Oh god, no! I was just thinking about how much I would miss with Victor if I were locked up somewhere. Could you imagine me in jail? I'm far too pretty.
Poppy (to Vincent): Yes... It would be terrible. Since you're awake now, would you mind keeping an eye on Victor for an hour or so? I need to go down to the gym.
Vincent (to Poppy): Mmmm. Of course, hun. I'll see you when you get back.
Poppy (to Vincent): Be back soon. (to Victor) Bye little man. Be good for your father.
Vincent (to Poppy): I love you, hun. We'll see you soon.
Poppy (to Vincent): ... I, uh, love you too, honey.
A short time later:
Percy (to Poppy): How's Vincent doing, honey? Why on earth did you want to meet down here?
Poppy (to Percy): Does it even matter, Percy? I am so mad at him, right now that I can't be in the same room with him. I love him, but after realizing that he half-expected to be the one to end up dead... I just don't know what to do. I've been going about doing everything that needs to be done like a robot, no offense. But how do we get through this?
Percy (to Poppy): Honey, you just do. Remember when Papa died? Or when you weren't sure where the next meal was coming from?
Poppy (to Percy): Of course, I do.
Percy (to Poppy): Well then, if you still love him then you're going to stick up your chin & soldier on. Okay?
Poppy (to Percy): But, what happens when some new cause comes along that he obsesses over, honey?
Percy (to Poppy): Hush. Don't think about the future maybes right now, honey, It'll make you crazy. Deal with the todays.
Poppy (to Percy): You're right, honey. Thank you. I'll be fine... Now, as for the other reason I wanted to see you. I have a mission for you. I'm not quite convinced that we've heard the last of Hiiri. So, just be on the lookout, okay? It's better to be safe than sorry... I should get back upstairs. Thank you for the talk.
Percy (to Poppy): Will do, honey... Oh, so we're on hugging terms now?
Poppy (to Percy): Don't make it weird.
A little while later:
Vincent (to Poppy): Hmmm? Oh. Sorry, hun. Victor and I dozed off. Heh. Looks like Victor is still asleep.
Poppy (to Vincent): It's okay, honey. I can move him to his crib, if you'd like to disengage yourself.
Vincent (to Poppy): No, he's alright. So, are you going to tell me where you really went?
Poppy (to Vincent): I went downstairs to the gym, honey.
Vincent (to Poppy): Oh. OK, hun. How are you holding up?
Poppy (to Vincent): I'm just peachy with a side of keen, honey.
Vincent (to Poppy): OK, hun. Just let me go put Victor down & then you can rip into me. I'd rather get hit than put up with forced politeness.
Poppy (to Vincent): I'm not going to hit you, honey. You've been through enough. I'm just-- well, to be honest, I'm a bit hurt and upset.
Vincent (to Poppy): I know you are, hun.
Poppy (to Vincent): Really? That's all you have to say to me... I don't care that you killed Hiiri. What I care about is the fact that you-- you seem more upset that you haven't been punished for it & that you seem shocked that you're alive. It concerns me.
Vincent (to Poppy): I don't know what else to say. *I* care that I killed her. I--I've never... I never expected that I would--I would... There's a reason I didn't do raids, hun. I know that it was always... I-I knew if I carried a sword, I might have to use it. I'm not an idiot. But I never really thought... And the worst part, the WORST part, is that I'd do it again!
Poppy (to Vincent): Hiiri was terrible & she needed to be stopped, honey. Someone was going to have to do it, I'm sorry it was you... But you-- Nevermind. I'll be fine.
Vincent (to Poppy): Don't do that, hun. Finish what you were going to say.
Poppy (to Vincent): I just can't you believe that you were willing to go up against her with the very real possibility of leaving me alone to raise your son and spend the rest of our lives without you.
Vincent (to Poppy): I... God. I don't know, hun. I don't know what I was thinking. All those Very Important Reasons I had just seem so... I honestly don't know what I was thinking.
Poppy (to Vincent): Well, I'm glad you finally realize that, honey.
Vincent (to Poppy): I'm sorry, hun.
Poppy (to Vincent): Just don't let it happen again, lover.
Vincent (to Poppy): ... Don't-don't do it... Heh. I won't.
