A Strange & Winding Road: Day 66

Eep (to Mouse): Hey. Morning. Uhhhh, I mean, afternoon. Want some coffee?

Mouse (to Eep): Yes, please... I'm sorry if I woke you in the middle of the night. I was having trouble sleeping.

Eep (to Mouse): It's alright. You, um, you having nightmares again?

Mouse (to Eep): Yeah, but it wasn't about Smythe or Hiiri... It was about Vincent's family. I still can't believe the nerve of those people.

Eep (to Mouse): Oh. Yeah. They're a piece of fucking work, aren't they? I wish I could say that it surprises me. How do you think Vincent's doing, really? He seemed OK last night. Quiet, but OK.

Mouse (to Eep): I'm not sure, he seemed like he was just annoyed more than anything... I mean, It's been years since he had any sort of interaction with any of them. They're practically strangers. It would be like a stranger coming up to you & demanding something.

Eep (to Mouse): Yeah. But they're still his family. Shit. Look at me and my pop. We were total strangers when I moved in with him, but he's still my dad, you know? It's gotta still be tough, whether or not he wants anything to do with them. Or maybe not. What the hell do I know?

Mouse (to Eep): I know, but he's not willing to talk about it, so I'm not going to bug him. I can't force him... I just hope he talks to Poppy. So, not to change the subject, but I'm totally going to change it... You never told me how the meeting with Zach went last night.

Eep (to Mouse): Oh. Uh, yeah. You seemed pretty upset when I got home. It went, um, it went pretty good, I guess. He wants to come by and take a look at some of the paintings in person, but he wanted to display a bunch of them. Um, he asked if I wanted to do a show, but I'm not sure I wanna do anything like that.

Mouse (to Eep): Wow! That's awesome. I'm so happy for you.

Eep (to Mouse): Heh. Well, I'll have to see if he actually wants any of them first, but... um, thanks.

Mouse (to Eep): You don't seem that excited about it... What's the worse that can happen? He says no & then we have a ton of paintings to put up. If you just want to get them out of the house... Maybe, Sasha would be interested in hanging some of them in the club.

Eep (to Mouse): Heh. Yeah. I know. There's still a part of me that's wondering why I'm bothering at all.  I mean, it's not like I'm gonna make a million dollars at this or anything, and there's a ton of better painters in this town. Plus, it's kinda tough putting something you made out there, you know?

Mouse (to Eep): Heehee, yeah I know, I do it every weekend. But, I like what you've been painting & I'm not just saying that... If it was crap, I'd tell you...Tactfully, of course.

Eep (to Mouse): Heh. Yeah. I know. You're braver than I am. Thanks. I'm trying not to worry about it until Zach takes a look at my stuff.

Mouse (to Eep): I know you don't care about this silly stuff, but this is a big step. Whether he likes it or not, I really am proud of you.

Eep (to Mouse): well, it helps having you in my corner, you know.

Mouse (to Eep): Heh... Well, I'll always be in your corner. :-)
