At the Longfellow Inn; New London, Britannia:
Charles (to Roland): Good evening, Lord Wilkes. Um, Is there... May I get you something?
Roland (to Charles): ... No. I'm enjoying the charming "atmosphere." I'm looking for the young man who normally works here. Short, curly blonde hair, he plays at having a vocabulary and manners beyond his station. I'm sure he's irritating enough to have made an impression.
Charles (to Roland): ... I'm afraid I'm the only young man who has worked at the Inn in nearly two years, sir. What is it I can do for you?
Roland (to Charles): Yes. So you are. I see you've gotten a good deal taller. You will deliver a message to my brother's... Give this message to Mr. Nathaniel Jones on my behalf.
Charles (to Roland): I would be... It would be my pleasure, sir.
Roland (to Charles): Yes. If anyone should ask, I never set foot in this establishment.
Charles: What a bloody twat! (to Roland) I wouldn't dream of mentioning it, sir. Have a good evening.
A couple hours later, at Aiden's house; New London, Britannia:
Persephone (to Charles): Hello, Charles! What brings you to our part of town?
Charles (to Persephone): Good evening, Miss Persephone. I hope I'm not calling too late. I was asked to deliver a message... I, um, I'm not being followed am I? I didn't think I was...
Persephone (to Charles): No, you're fine, Charles. I was just coming back from my "evening walk". I do that now. I go for walks... We had some trouble a few days ago.
Charles (to Persephone): Oh. That's terrible. Is everything... Is everyone well?
Persephone (to Charles): Oh yes, they're fine... Well, except for Nate. He got attacked by a bunny. Heehee. He's under orders to rest up. I believe Mrs. Esterly has him confined to the sofa in the family room. So, what brings you about?
Charles (to Persephone): He was attacked... by a bunny? Oh. That is... Um, yes. I hope he is feeling better soon. I have a message for him. Lord Wilkes asked me to deliver this letter.
Persephone (to Charles): You're more than welcome to take it to him, Charles. Just watch out for Lilian. She'll get one look at you & end up following you about for days. :-p
Charles (to Persephone): She'll... Why would she do that?
Persephone (to Charles): Heehee. Haven't you noticed the giggling girls following you about, Charles? You've grown into quite a hot commodity. Besides, Lilian has a weakness for well-dressed young men. :-p
Charles (to Persephone): Oh. Um... Y-- yes. I shouldn't worry about it too much, Miss Persephone. I think the young ladies at the Inn are teasing me.
Persephone (to Charles): Heh. If you say so. Go on, go deliver your message, sweetie. I've got a boyfriend to go tuck in. ;-)
Charles (to Persephone): Oh. Yes. Of course. I'm very sorry to have kept you, miss.
A few minutes later:
Charles (to Nathaniel): Mister Jones? Are you awake?
Nathaniel (to Charles): Yeah. I'll be fucked if I can get to sleep on this couch. What's up, Chuck?
Charles (to Nathaniel): It's CHARLES, Mister... Never mind. I have a letter for you from Mr. Wilkes's, um, charming brother.
Nathaniel (to Charles): ...Roland sent ME a letter? What the fuck for?
Charles (to Nathaniel): I'm sure I have no idea, Mr. Jones. I was just asked to deliver it to you.
Nathaniel (to Charles): Oh. Thanks for delivering it. Sorry you had to deal with that fuckhead.
Charles (to Nathaniel): Oh! Heh heh... You're welcome, Mr. Jones. I need to get back to the Inn. I hope your, um, rabbit wound heals well.
Nathaniel (to Charles): ... Ha ha ha! Yeah, yeah. Later, Chuck.
