On the street, outside Renfield's; West Piedmont:
Luc (to Vincent): Um, Captain? Are you sure this is a good idea? I've never been on this side before.
Vincent (to Luc): It might be a TERRIBLE idea, but that's never stopped me before... Hee hee. You can relax, Luc. That was a joke. Mostly. And how many times do I have to say it, kiddo? You can call me Vincent.
Luc (to Vincent): Heh. Probably, a thousand more times. It's still a bit weird for me. Is Amunet going to be alright with your wife?
Vincent (to Luc): It shouldn't be that strange. It is my name. :-p She'll be fine with Poppy, hun. Hee hee. You've only ever read her work files, haven't you? She'll take good care of her, because she's important to you.
Luc (to Vincent): Good to know… So, where exactly are we going?
Vincent (to Luc): Well first, I'm going to get some coffee. You cannot get a good latte on the other side for love or money. And, if you and Amunet want to stay on this side for a while to keep away from Maladori, we can help.
A moment later, in Renfield's:
Vincent (to Luc): Here we are. This is my sister's place. Hee hee. Don't look so nervous, hun. If someone says something you don't understand just smile, thicken your accent and explain you're from Europe. :-p
Luc (to Vincent): Oh… I'll just follow your lead, Vincent.
Vincent (to Luc): Heh. It's just coffee, Luc…. (to Mouse) Hello, gorgeous sister o' mine!
Mouse (to Vincent): Little brother! What a wonderful surprise! … You need a latte, don't you?
Vincent (to Mouse): Oh my God, YES! Please. I would be eternally grateful. (to Luc) Would you like anything, Luc?
Luc (to Mouse & Vincent): … I'll have the same thing if you please, madam.
Mouse (to Vincent & Luc): Heehee… I think I can handle that. So, who might you be?
Luc (to Mouse & Vincent): … Oh… I'm Luc, Ms Potter. I believe we met quite some time ago with Prof-- I'm sorry, Vincent, did I say something wrong?
Vincent (to Luc & Mouse): No... I just didn't realize that you had already met. Though I probably should have suspected, shouldn't I?
Luc (to Vincent & Mouse): Well, I was a small child.
Mouse (to Vincent & Luc): Why do I suddenly feel like I've just been dropped into the middle of a movie?
Vincent (to Mouse & Luc): Hee hee. Because it's me, sweetie. Experience. :-p Can you take a break and get a drink with us?
Mouse (to Vincent & Luc): I think that sounds like a very good idea… Come on up to my office.
A few minutes later, in the office:
Mouse (to Vincent & Luc): Now, what exactly do you mean that we met when you were small, Luc?
Luc (to Vincent & Mouse): I was with Professor Maladori, Mister Von Clegg & Hiiri. I played with your daughter. You gave me cookies and were very nice. You got into a fight with Hiiri over me, if I remember correctly.
Mouse (to Vincent & Luc): Oh shit… I do remember. I didn't like the idea of a kid being involved with them. I wanted you to stay with me, but Hiiri wouldn't let me keep you. She threatened Mars… I'm so sorry.
Luc (to Mouse & Vincent): It's fine, Ms. Potter. Thaddeus took very good care of me… And, this concoction is very good.
Vincent (to Mouse & Luc): I shouldn't think so. He found his way out of the fold eventually, & we have found ourselves with another slightly wayward soul.
Mouse (to Vincent & Luc): I can see that… Is there a reason he looks related?
Vincent (to Mouse): Ha ha ha! I should have known better than to beat around the bush, sweetie... This is little Lucas, all grown up. (to Luc) Heh. Don't look so shocked, Hun. You aren't the first chronologically nephew my dear sister has had to endure.
Mouse (to Luc & Vincent): …Come here, Luc. I'm glad you're okay & I wish I had been able to save you. It was always a regret of mine
Vincent (to Luc & Mouse): Hee hee. I told you it was worth the trip, didn't I? As are her hugs. ;-)
Mouse (to Vincent): Stop your smirking, little brother. Why do you insist on dropping these sort of things in my lap without any warning? Do you find it funny to give me a heart attack?
Vincent (to Mouse): We're trying to convince him to stay on this side until things calm down a bit on the other side. And I wasn't smirking! The very idea...
Mouse (to Vincent): Heh. Drink your coffee, little brother.
Vincent (to Mouse & Luc): Hee hee. I'm drinking! I'm drinking! Luc? Oh dear. I think we've broken him.
Luc (to Vincent & Mouse): … I'm from Europe.
Vincent (to Luc & Mouse): Hee hee! I wish I could say this is the strangest thing we've ever endured, hun, bit it's # 5. A 4 at the best.
Luc (to Vincent & Mouse): I really don't know what to say.
Mouse (to Luc): HAHAHA! It's alright, sweetie. This is just how we act. I'm not really mad at your father. He just has an annoying habit of getting himself in trouble & apparently involving the rest of his family.
Vincent (to Mouse): And I do TRY not to involve the rest of the family, hun. I only come to you when I have a troublesome young man. :-p
Mouse (to Vincent): … Is he going to need a job & a place to live, as well?
Vincent (to Mouse): That is up to him, hun. I just wanted him to know he has options.
Mouse (to Vincent & Luc): Well, if he can pour drinks or work a crowd, I'm sure I can find him a job at the club.
Luc (to Vincent & Mouse): Oh… I guess so. I don't really have many options. Either stay in the bunker forever or be on this side. I'll give it a try.
Vincent (to Mouse & Luc): Hahaha! Somehow I don't think working a crowd will be a problem. You've got the Jones family genes for sure.
Luc (to Vincent & Mouse): Why am I suddenly filled with dread?
Mouse (to Luc): Heh. Probably because you inherited your mother's brains.
Vincent (to Mouse & Luc): Hey now! I have brai-... HAHAHA! Oh, good heavens. I can't even finish that. If you're lucky, you I inherented your mom's brains, and my looks. ;-)
Mouse (to Vincent): ... Too pretty, little brother. ;-p
Vincent (to Mouse): :-P
