Strange Ways Here We Come: Day 43

Carver (to Hiiri): Good morning, ma'am.

Hiiri (to Carver): Oh, little brother, where on earth have you been?

Carver (to Hiiri): Well, ma'am. We've been an unexpected guest of Mr. von Clegg and his crew, ma'am. It was an interesting few days.

Hiiri (to Carver): That certainly explains why he didn't respond to my inquiries.

Carver (to Hiiri): Yes, ma'am. We're in need of some bandages, we're afraid. The gentlemen from CLANNG were feeling experimental, ma'am.

Hiiri (to Carver): I'll have Marguerite prepare some bandages & linaments for you. Do you need to go to a hospital?

Carver (to Hiiri): Oh. It's nothing as serious as all that, ma'am. We just have some burns, a few broken fingers, and there's a bit of blood.

Hiiri (to Carver): Don't worry, little brother, we'll get you fixed up & then we'll see what's to be done about CLANNG.

Carver (to Hiiri): We're most upset that we lost one of the lovely knives you gifted us, ma'am. We were only able to recover one of them. We're very sorry, ma'am. It breaks our heart to have lost such a lovely gift. It was our first one, ma'am.

Hiiri (to Carver): Not to worry, I'll get Maladori to make another one.

Carver (to Hiiri): We would certainly appreciate that, ma'am. We are very grateful for everything you've done for us, ma'am.

Hiiri (to Carver): Oh... Well, that's awfully nice of you to say. Would you like to go & play with someone to make you feel better?

Carver (to Hiiri): We are certainly more than a touch annoyed, ma'am.

Hiiri (to Carver): Would you like to go & find a particular playmate or should we head into the city?

Carver (to Hiiri): We have a person in mind, ma'am.

Meanwhile:

Poppy: Oh my! Someone is making breakfast & it smells fantastic...

Vincent (to Poppy): Good morning, hun. There's coffee brewing.

Poppy (to Vincent): Oh you are a saint, a very sexy saint, but a saint nonetheless... I'm probably going to hell for that comment, honey.

Vincent (to Poppy): Hee hee. If that's your worse offense, I think you'll be OK. And if not, well, all the interesting people are going to Hell.

Poppy (to Vincent): Well, I'm not sure it's my worst offense, just my most recent. :-P What are you making in here that smells so good?

Vincent (to Poppy): There are biscuits in the oven, I've got scrambled eggs going right now. I just made bacon, and, um... God, this is SO embarrassingly stereotypical, but I made gravy for the biscuits.

Poppy (to Vincent): I have no idea what's wrong with gravy for biscuits, but I will gladly eat it & find out, honey.

Vincent (to Poppy): Hee hee. It's milk gravy, and it's a VERY southern thing. Which also means it's not healthy in the slightest. I'll be eating nothing but salads for a week after this.

Poppy (to Vincent): Well, honey, I didn't know I even wanted breakfast until I woke up smelling that, so I'm game. Why the sudden urge to cook?

Vincent (to Poppy): To be honest, I'm not sure. I just had the urge for a delicious, apologetically fatty breakfast.

Poppy (to Vincent): Well, I think after all the work you've been doing over the last few days I think you deserve a breakfast like this.

Vincent (to Poppy): Likewise. Food's on, hun. If you don't like the gravy, there's honey and jam for the biscuits instead.

Poppy (to Vincent): I'm curious, so I'll try the gravy... So, honey, I was doing some thinking about what we talked about last night. I uh, I'd like to go out on an actual date with you... if you're interested.

Vincent (to Poppy): Oh... Well, yes. That would be nice.

Poppy (to Vincent): Oh good... I have to admit I was a little nervous about asking you, honey. And, I'm in love with this gravy.

Vincent (to Poppy): Hee hee. Well, I'm glad you like it. Shall we get to packing?

Poppy (to Vincent): I guess we should, honey.

Several hours later:

Poppy (to Percy): Hi honey, fancy running into you here... what brings you this way?

Percy (to Poppy): Oh, I was sent this way on an errand for the Davenports & I had some time to kill. What are you doing out so late, honey?

Poppy (to Percy): I was, uh, out on a date... and, I accidentally left my purse in the restaurant so I was coming back to get it.

Percy (to Poppy): Stepping out on Vincent so soon, honey? That makes me sad.

Poppy (to Percy): Oh... no, it's not like that at all.

Percy (to Poppy): Well, I just really hope that Vincent & this backup boi don't find out about each other... That's certainly a catfight waiting to happen, honey!

Poppy (to Percy): Honey, I have no idea what you just said... boi, backup boi, catfight? Have you been drinking the high octane liquor again?

Percy (to Poppy): No... Maybe... Yes, honey, but that's not the point. I just don't want you hurting Vincent. He'd be devastated. I don't think you want a repeat of what happened last time... All he did was stay at home and watch that show about midgets eating a block of cheese.

Poppy (to Percy): Look, I don't know what your game is, honey, but knock it off...

Percy (to Poppy): Clearly, honey, you haven't thought of the benefits of having a nice goth boi like Vincent in your life. When you're old & in diapers, he'll keep you away from synthetic fibers & backlighting.

Poppy (to Percy): YES... and I'm sure you get this all the time, honey. Could you take one giant step back? Oh... wait. Make that ten.

Vincent (to Poppy): Poppy? Was your purse at the restaurant, hun, or should we try... (to Percy) Oh. Hello, Percy. What brings you to this side? You're not planning on moving any more of my furniture in the middle of the night, are you?

Poppy (to Vincent): Yes, it was, but as you can see I got a bit waylaid.

Percy (to Vincent): Oh you! I returned your key... and, clearly I didn't need to be reprimanding Poppy. (to Poppy) Why didn't you simply tell me you were out with Vincent?

Poppy (to Percy): Geez Louise, I didn't really think it was any of your business, you overgrown Transformer.

Vincent (to Percy): Hmmm. Well, see you don't make a habit of unannounced, late night "visits." That's beyond creepy, hun.

Percy (to Vincent): Oh honey, I love you like the brother I had incarcerated... (to Poppy) Oops, honey. Too soon?

Poppy (to Percy): I am not afraid to hit ya, honey... with a car. (to Vincent) ... I am going to the car.

Vincent (to Percy): One, that is an...unfortunate choice of analogies. I may be from Kentucky, but I'm not THAT Kentucky. Two, stop trying to pick a fight! I thought you were going to stop with all this antagonistic behavior.

Percy (to Vincent): It was a poor choice of words, I agree, honey... She, uh... I thought she was out with someone else. I seriously wasn't thinking about what I said... She's going to be mad at me.

Poppy: Dear god! Percy is crazy, I should have him committed. Well, he's not crazy, so much as he just bugs me.

Vincent (to Percy): Percy, you have a brain the size of China. I've never seen you NOT know exactly what you were saying. So yes, I'd say she's going to be mighty annoyed. I know things are complicated for you two, but Poppy can go out with whomever she likes, regardless of how you feel.

Percy (to Vincent): No, no, you're right, honey... I was just concerned. You're right, I overstepped my bounds. I'm still getting used to all of this. I'm not quite sure how I'm supposed to act around her. Please, tell her I'm sorry. I should go.

Vincent (to Percy): I know, hun. Don't worry. As I'm sure you know, Poppy is more than capable of taking care of herself. Good night. I'll tell her you said you were sorry.

Percy (to Vincent): Thank you, honey...

Vincent (to Poppy): Hey, hun. Percy sends his apologies.

Poppy (to Vincent): Oh... I think I'll put that on a shelf next to all of my other unwanted things. I'm sorry, honey, I shouldn't be snippy at you... and it was such a nice evening up until that point.

Vincent (to Poppy): Heh. Don't worry about it. I know how thing are between you two. He was certainly in rare form tonight, wasn't he?

Poppy (to Vincent): Yes... He accused me of "stepping out" on you, which I have no idea what that means, but I can guess.

Vincent (to Poppy): Mmm. He didn't say as much, but it did seem like he was annoyed because he thought you were out with someone else.

Poppy (to Vincent): Hmmm, I don't know if I will ever understand what goes on in his brain, honey.

Vincent (to Poppy): Oh, I gave up on that ages ago.

Poppy (to Vincent): Well, after all of that, should we call our date night over, honey?

Vincent (to Poppy): I hate to end on such a horrible note, hun, but I suppose it is getting late.

Poppy (to Vincent): Heehee. Maybe, I'll let you steal a kiss when you walk me to the door. ;-)

Vincent (to Poppy): Oh really? Well, you certainly know how to make the evening end positively.

Poppy (to Vincent): Well, it IS our first date, honey... I'd like it to end nicely.

Vincent (to Poppy): It looks like we're home, hun. Thanks asking me out, Poppy. I had a good time, even if Percy did show up. So...

Poppy (to Vincent): I had a nice time, too, honey. I hope we can do it again, sometime.

Vincent (to Poppy): I, uh, I do too. I'd like that. I don't suppose you'll mind if I steal that kiss from you, would you...

Poppy (to Vincent): How can I refuse? … Mmm, that was nice, honey.

Vincent (to Poppy): Mmm. Wow... I'll say. Let's head inside.
