At a café; Denver, Colorado, American Territories:
Stella (to Luc): Well, hello there, killer.
Luc (to Stella): Huh? Oh, Miss Stella, how nice to see you not in the saloon. I have to apologize for not recognizing you right away.
Stella (to Luc): Well, a girl's gotta eat and I'm certainly not going to make breakfast for myself. Rocko's mama owns this place, so all us girls get a bit of a discount. Care to join me? I won't bite... much.
Luc (to Stella): That is a very tempting offer, but... There doesn't seem to be another free place to sit. So, I believe I will.
Stella (to Luc): "Come into my parlor said the spider to the fly." Heehee. What brings you into town so early? I don't think I've seen you in the daylight before.
Luc (to Stella): I'm waiting for Sheridan's place to open. I'm picking up a delivery. Not the most glamorous job, I know, but it pays the bills.
Stella (to Luc): Well, lucky me.
Amunet (to Luc): There you are, Luc! 'Meet me at the cafe in Denver' you said... Heh. I should have known you'd be chatting up some pretty lady... (to Stella) Hi there. I'm Amunet.
Stella (to Amunet): ... Stella... Sweetie, did you know there's someone looking for you?
Amunet (to Stella): I had no idea. Thank you for letting me know. (to Luc) On that note, I should head out, then. Sorry to be so brief.
Luc (to Amunet): Take care, Amunet. We'll do drinks sometime soon.
Amunet (to Luc): I'll hold you to that. (to Stella & Luc) Good day to you both.
Stella (to Amunet ): Bye, sweetie!
Stella (to Luc): Well, it looks like it's just you & me, once again, killer. Whatever shall we do?
Luc (to Stella): Heh. I'm going to opt for the safe suggestion and order breakfast.
Stella (to Luc): Spoilsport.
Victor (to Luc): Here you are! I've got 50 bloody tons of potatoes in the hull ready to... (to Stella) Oh. Excuse me. Sorry to interrupt. Don't I know you from someplace?
Stella (to Victor): Heh. I should hope so, sexy. I'm the bartender at the Slipper Room who offered to take you home, which you sadly turned down much to your loss. I practically cried myself to sleep. ;-P
Luc (to Victor & Stella): Sheridan's not open yet. Stella very graciously let me join her while I waited.
Stella (to Luc & Victor): It was a great sacrifice on my part, I have to admit. :-P
Victor (to Stella): The Slipper... Oh! That was the place with all the pink in it, yeah? Heh. I'm sure you survived.
Stella (to Victor & Luc): Only just... Oh! there was a fella looking for you, last night. Same one that was looking for your friend. Name of Craine. Ring any bells?
Victor (to Stella & Luc): Craine? ... Can't say that it does. He was looking for me? I wonder if it was that CLANNG bloke that hit on Nate and Amunet the other night...
Stella (to Victor & Luc): Yes. He's a tall handsome fella, talks way too much. Shags anything that moves... He was looking for you, another man and Luc's lady friend.
Victor (to Stella & Luc): He can't take no for an answer, can he? Shall I leave you two to it? Those potatoes will wait for no man.
Luc (to Victor): I'll come with you. (to Stella) It was lovely to see you & to bask in your warm hospitality once more, Miss Stella.
Stella (to Luc): Heh. You're such a smooth one. (to Victor) As for you, sexy, if your situation ever changes, feel free to look me up.
Victor (to Stella): I will. Cheers. (to Luc) Whoo! She's a bit intense.
Luc (to Victor): Heh. She likes you... I didn't know you went to places like the Slipper, little big brother. Will wonders never cease?
Victor (to Luc): Stop your smirking. I don't. Not anymore. I thought it was a dive bar. There were far more girls than was expecting. And ruffles.
Luc (to Victor): Heh. You have something against ruffles and girls? I happen to like the place. Chess & I get A LOT of free drinks whenever we go... Except when we bring your girl along. She always causes a problem. Don't know why.
Victor (to Luc): Heh. Why does that not surprise me? ...Wait. I didn't get any free drinks!
Luc (to Victor): Shouldn't have offended the bartender. ;-P
Victor (to Luc): So you're saying I should have gone home with her? Heh. I think I'd rather pay for my drinks than be murdered by my fiancée.
Luc (to Victor): No, you should have just flirted with her. You do know how to do that, don't you? I thought it was genetic. Vincent can't seem to help himself... You are actually my brother, aren't you? ;-P
Several hours later, in the infirmary, at Tesla's Monastery; Colorado Springs, Colorado, American Colonies:
Eva (to George): I think that's you out of the woods, George. You're healing nicely and the infection is gone...<sighs> Thank goodness.
George (to Eva): That's good to hear, isn't it? You don't seem all that happy about it. Are you alright?
Eva (to George): I'm thrilled, honestly. I suppose... I-- I believe I'm simply relieved. I should sit down.
George (to Eva): Eva? You look in rough shape… When was the last time you had a good night's sleep & a meal?
Eva (to George): I ate earlier. Mr. Turner insisted. He can be rather pushy when he puts his mind to it. I'll sleep when I'm able. I've been looking after all the children, the Potters, fretting over you and doing the work of two people, after all... I think... <yawn> I think you should be able to sleep in your own bed tonight.
George (to Eva): Thank you for everything, Eva. I really appreciate it. I know it's been hard on you.
Eva (to George): It was... It was nothing, George. I don't know what I would have done if something had happened... <yawn> Excuse me. Perhaps sitting down was a mistake...
George (to Eva): I'd say so… I'm not sure I can help you get to your room.
Eva (to George): No, no... That's not necessary. I'm just going to... to, um, rest here a moment. <yawn> Then I'll get some rest.
George (to Eva): Heh… If you say so. Would you like me to get someone to assist you on my way back to my room?
Eva (to George): Don't be ridiculous! I don't need assistance. I'm just resting my eyes. I'm... I'm not sleeping...
George (to Eva): Yes, but you should be… Look, Eva, you are the closest thing I have to family & you are not allowed to kill yourself by overworking and exhaustion. So, sit tight. I'll go find someone.
A couple minutes later:
George (to Vincent): Captain Potter! Have you seen Luc anywhere? Eva needs help getting back to her room & I can't quite do it.
Vincent (to George): I believe he and Victor are current trying to eat all the supplies they brought Charles earlier. Here. Hold Lucas. I'm sure I can get her up and moving towards her room. I worried she was over doing things.
George (to Vincent): Oh… Are you sure you want me to hold Lucas? I'm not very good with babies.
Vincent (to George): Heh. Neither was I before I wound up with all these kids. At his age, all you have to do is hold on tight. You'll be fine.
George (to Vincent): Okay… (to Lucas) Hi there, uh, Lucas… You're going to be a good baby for me, right?
Vincent (to George): You're doing fine. He likes you.
A little while later, in the infirmary:
Vincent (to Eva): Eva? Wake up, sweetie. You're fast asleep in the hospital wing. We should get you to bed.
Eva (to Vincent): Hmmm? What? Captain Potter? Oh no! What's wrong? ...Where am I?
Vincent (to Eva): Nothing is wrong, hun. Everything is fine. You've been working yourself too hard.
Eva (to Vincent & George): Oh... I must have drifted off.
George (to Eva & Vincent): Yeah, you did. I thought you might want to sleep in a bed rather than a chair in here.
Vincent (to Eva): It will be more comfortable. Come on, sweetie. On your feet. Let's get you to your bed.
Eva (to George): ... George. Do you have a baby?
George (to Eva): What!?! No. I mean, yes I'm holding a baby but it's not mine. It's Lucas. I'm too young for that sorta thing.
Eva (to George): Oh. Yes. That makes sense... <yawn> I was wondering. (to Vincent) Where are we headed?
George (to Vincent & Eva): Heehee. She's not usually this scatter-brained.
Vincent (to Eva): To your room, hun.
Eva (to Vincent & George): No! I can't! I-- I mean... No. Thank you. That's not... I'm too busy to sleep right this moment.
George (to Eva): Eva, you need sleep.
Vincent (to Eva): ... Have you been avoiding sleeping in your room, sweetie?
Eva (to Vincent & George): No! Why would I? I'm... I'm not some sappy, over emotional... <sniff> Over emotional t-- twit.
George (to Eva): ... You're not a twit.
Eva (to George): ...Thank you.
Vincent (to Eva): Ah. I understand. You don't want to sleep too long. Let's get you someplace you can rest your eyes then. (to George) ;-)
George (to Vincent): Oh yeah, of course.
Vincent (to Eva): Heh. Here we are. I'm sure my son won't mind if you borrow his bed for a few minutes. (to George) Let's leave her to it.
Eva (to Vincent & George): <yawn> I won't... I won't be long. Just a minute or two...
George (to Eva): Sleep well, Eva.
Vincent (to Eva): Good night. (to George) You can give me back my baby boy, George. Whew! I think he needs a change.
George (to Vincent): Heh. I was wondering where that smell was coming from... I should probably head to bed too. Good night, Captain. Lucas.
Vincent (to George): Good night, sweetheart.
