At Casino de la Renard; Nice, French Republic:
Grigori (to Ji Yong): Mr. Yong! What are you doing here?
Ji Yong (to Grigori): ... Reporting for work, Mr. Rodchenko.
Grigori (to Ji Yong): Reporting... Bozhe moy! I'm not sure if you've noticed this, but you're still quite injured, Mr. Yong. You should be resting.
Ji Yong (to Grigori): I'm not so injured that I'm unable to perform my...
Grigori (to Ji Yong): No, no, no. Stop right there. Ignoring your arm, you still have fresh stitches, and you look a horror, my young friend. Do not worry. We are more than capable of protecting the casino for a while longer. Heh heh. Not to mention, Hari would never forgive me if I were to allow you to re-injure yourself at work. Go lay back down. That is an order, Mr. Yong. Don't make me fetch your little brother to wrangle you back into bed. ;-)
Ji Yong: Que dois-je faire avec moi-même maintenant? (to Grigori) ... Yes, sir.
An hour or so later:
Ariadne (to Bianca): Bianca, would you please stop staring at me? It's really unnerving.
Bianca (to Ariadne): I'm sorry, darling. There's just something different about you & I just can't put my finger on it.
Ariadne (to Bianca): Maybe, it's the fact that I'm doing two people's jobs while Mister Yong is recuperating & I'm very focussed… Hint, hint.
Bianca (to Ariadne): No. No, that's not it. There's a look in your eye… You're with child!
Ariadne (to Bianca): What!?! Hush… Don't say it so loud, bigmouth! I'm trying to work here.
Bianca (to Ariadne): Oh, sweetie… I know, a doctor who can help. A woman like you doesn't want to waste your time with all of that.
Ariadne (to Bianca): … Bianca, I know you're just trying to help but I'm actually quite fine with it. In a strange way, I'm even looking forward to it.
Bianca (to Ariadne): Oh, my mistake.
Sang Gi (to Ji Yong): Excuse me, big brother, I heard you were looking for something to occupy yourself with, so I brought you a few books to read.
Ji Yong (to Sang Gi): Thank you... Mr. Rodchenko sent you to assure I went back to bed, didn't he?
Sang Gi (to Ji Yong): Yep... You know, it's okay for people to take care of you once in awhile, Ji Yong. It's what families do for each other.
Ji Yong (to Sang Gi): Of course I know that! I'm... I apologize. Laying about doing nothing is not something I'm accustomed to. Or that I enjoy. It is making me testy.
Sang Gi (to Ji Yong): I know. But you're hurt & if you muck about too much, it'll take longer.
Ji Yong (to Sang Gi): <sigh> Vous avez raison. I will stay still... You're enjoying this a bit, aren't you?
Sang Gi (to Ji Yong): Not at all. I was petrified you were dead.
Ji Yong (to Sang Gi): Je ne dis pas cela. I meant that my employer and Hari are insisting I rest. You were always so mad when I worked while injured.
Sang Gi (to Ji Yong): Yeah. Well, it's just plain dumb… And, you're all I've got.
Ji Yong (to Sang Gi): ... I know. It was the reason I stopped working for the Bleak House when the opportunity presented itself.
Sang Gi (to Ji Yong): … Oh.
Ji Yong (to Sang Gi): Didn't you know that?
Sang Gi (to Ji Yong): How would I? It's not like you ever really talked to me, Ji Yong… Hell, you have said more to me in the last month than I think you've ever said to me my whole life. Why do you think I'm always trying to get your attention?
Ji Yong (to Sang Gi): ... I'm sorry, Gee. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable.
Sang Gi (to Ji Yong): … It's fine. Are you hungry? I could go to the kitchens and grab you something, if you like.
Ji Yong (to Sang Gi): I'm not particularly hungry... But I should eat. I would appreciate some food. Thank you.
Sang Gi (to Ji Yong): Alright. I'll see what I can scrounge up for you… Is there anything else I could get for you? Something to drink? A pretty lady to sit with you? ;-P
Ji Yong (to Sang Gi): You know I don't drink anymore, Gee. Just food is fine. You will have to keep all the pretty ladies for yourself. Heh. I'm sure it will be a trial.
Sang Gi (to Ji Yong): HAHAHA… I meant Hari, you dolt.
Ji Yong (to Sang Gi): ... Oh. Yes. I wouldn't mind the company, but I believe she is working. I am fine with just he books you brought me.
Sang Gi (to Ji Yong): Alright. I'll be back in a little while with your food.
Ji Yong (to Sang Gi): Merci, mon petit frère.
A short time later:
Zoe (to Ji Yong): Pardon me, Mister Park. Hari sent me up here with note for you… Shit. You look terrible. How are you feeling?
Ji Yong (to Zoe): I'm well enough, Ms Meriwether. I'm "resting."
Zoe (to Ji Yong): … Would you like me to help you like how I helped Hari? I mean, it might not be as drastic as an improvement since you're not a skipper but it might help… If you want.
Ji Yong (to Zoe): ... I am anxious to be better, but in a few more days, the stitches should be well enough for me to be up and about. The arm will take longer, but I fear healing that may be difficult. There is no reason to tax yourself. I'm not in danger of dying, and I can endure the discomfort. Thank you for the offer. Besides, I think my brother likes helping.
Zoe (to Ji Yong): Heh. Suit yourself, Mister Park… I just offered because you strike me as a man who doesn't know how to take it easy & relax. If you change your mind, just have Gee or Hari come find me… Do you have a response for Hari?
Ji Yong (to Zoe): No. I'm not. I will keep that in mind, thank you. If you can wait one moment, I will write her a response.
A couple minutes later:
Ji Yong (to Zoe): Here you are, miss. Thank you for waiting. I'm afraid usually write with my right hand. It takes me a bit longer left-handed.
Zoe (to Ji Yong): It's alright… Um, I thought you should know. Hari asked me to be her Maid of Honor, if you two decided to have a real wedding.
Ji Yong (to Zoe): She did? ...Oh. That is good. Did she seem-- happy about the prospect of a wedding?
Zoe (to Ji Yong): She seemed a little too excited about it, personally. She did mention that you have to ask her again… but, it sounds like she's going to say yes if the dress she wants is any indication.
Ji Yong (to Zoe): Yes. She said I'm not to ask her again until I am better.
Zoe (to Ji Yong): … Do you want a real wedding, Mister Park?
Ji Yong (to Zoe): ... I am not sure. I never gave such a thing much thought. What I want is to make Hari happy. It's also rather -- flattering, I think, to think she wants to marry me.
Zoe (to Ji Yong): … That's really sweet. Boy, I wish you'd give Felix lessons-- I'm sorry. You don't want to hear about my stupid stuff... I should get this note back to Hari.
Ji Yong (to Zoe): … I don't think I'm a good person to be giving anyone relationship advice, Ms Meriwether.
Zoe (to Ji Yong): When you ask her, do it on the balcony when the stars are out. She'll like it.
Ji Yong (to Zoe): I will keep that in mind, miss. Thank you.
Zoe (to Ji Yong): Heh. You're welcome. I hope you feel better soon.
Ji Yong (to Zoe): Thank you.
Several hours later:
Ariadne (to Ji Yong): Ji Yong, are you awake?
Ji Yong (to Ariadne): ...Yes. I apologize. I must have drifted off...
Ariadne (to Ji Yong): We've closed up for the night and I thought I'd come and check on you. I figured you were going a bit stir-crazy in here... How are you feeling?
Ji Yong (to Ariadne): A bit, as you say, stir crazy.
Ariadne (to Ji Yong): Well, we all miss you in the casino. It's just not the same without you scowling at everyone. ;-)
Ji Yong (to Ariadne): I apologize. I'm sure my absence is causing an increase in work for everyone.
Ariadne (to Ji Yong): Hush. I wasn't looking for an apology. I was trying to let you know that everyone misses you… They all like you, despite your best efforts. And, I'm terrible at scowling.
Ji Yong (to Ariadne): Yes. I do handle the majority of the scowling duties for the casino.
Ariadne (to Ji Yong): Heehee. That's true... I heard you tried to go to work earlier. Are you trying to make your recovery even longer, silly man?
Ji Yong (to Ariadne): ...Yes, I did. Honestly, I was bored and feeling useless. Was it our employer or my brother complaining about me?
Ariadne (to Ji Yong): It was Nicolette, actually. She saw you in the hallway & found me. But, Dyadya had already sent you back to your room by the time I got there.
Ji Yong (to Ariadne): Nicolette? ... Oh. I was not expecting that.
Ariadne (to Ji Yong): Heh. Well, to be fair, you did scare the poor girl half to death... Um, Ji Yong, I have to get something off my chest. Well, two things, actually. I'm not really sure how to start.
Ji Yong (to Ariadne): What is it?
Ariadne (to Ji Yong): ... I don't want to wait for you to ask me again. I want to get married soon before I'm a beach ball & I want a wedding. It might be the hormones but I want to make a big deal about it.
Ji Yong (to Ariadne): ... Heh. Yes, Ms Meriwether mentioned something along those lines. I was going to wait a bit... Hari... I would be most honored and very happy if you would agree to be my wife. Will you marry me?
Ariadne (to Ji Yong): Oh, my god, yes! I was worried you were going to change your mind... I suddenly want a pickle... And a steak. A really bloody one.
Ji Yong (to Ariadne): Ouch.
Ariadne (to Ji Yong): Sorry. These kids are going to be the death of me.
Ji Yong (to Ariadne): I sincerely hope not…
Ariadne (to Ji Yong): Heh. That was a joke...
Ji Yong (to Ariadne): Je t'aime, Hari, et je t'aime bébés aussi.
Ariadne (to Ji Yong): I love you, too... I killed Xiao Wei, Ji Yong.
