Back in the Future, Day 123

At Renfield's, West Piedmont:

Seychella Winters (to Oliver): Um, hey, sooo... there isn't any chance ya'll are hiring or have applications or something?

Oliver (to Seychella): Oh. Actually, we might be. We're a little short staffed at the moment. You would have to speak to the owner, Emma Estevez.

Seychella (to Oliver): Oh... thanks. Dir.. directly with the owner, huh? She's wouldn't happen to be in right now, would she?

Oliver (to Seychella): I'm not sure... I can check if you'd like.

Seychella (to Oliver): ... shit. Uh... Well, why the hell not?

Oliver (to Seychella): Sure. One moment, please.

A moment later, in Emma's office:

Oliver (to Mouse): Miss Emma? There's a young lady here wondering if we're hiring.

Mouse (to Oliver): Oh? Did you give her an application? With Nate being gone & Tasha going off to college, we could use some help.

Oliver (to Mouse): Oh right! That's what you do on this side again. I'm sorry. I'll give her an application. There's always so much paperwork...

Mouse (to Oliver): If you get a good vibe from her & she fills out the application right now, you can send her up here.

Oliver (to Mouse): A good vibe... Yes. OK.

A moment later:

Oliver (to Seychella): I'm sorry, miss. I didn't ask your name...

Seychella (to Oliver): Oh! It's... Uh, Seychella. Winters. I can spell the first one if you're planning on writing it down. I don't think my parents must have liked other people much because no one seems to be able to spell it on the first try.

Oliver (to Seychella): Is that with an "a" or an "e"? Oh... Heh. I'm sorry. You can fill this out yourself, I'm sure. Here you are. Miss Emma asked that you fill our an application, and then if you have time, she may be able to speak to you.

Seychella (to Oliver): With an E. Oh! Yeah sure! This doesn't look like it'll take long. Especially if you don't AC-tually care what my high school address is exactly. Because.. I can't remember.

Oliver (to Seychella): Where is it?

Seychella (to Oliver): Oh.. I remember the town and stuff. I grew up a small suburb not far from here. But damned if I ever can remember the street address.

Oliver (to Seychella): If it's Thomas Jefferson High School in Pleasant View, the street address is 153 East Jefferson Ave. Does that help? Oh. Or if it was in Hudson Heights, I believe I know the addresses to the three biggest schools in that town...

Seychella (to Oliver): Uh... it's the first one. And.. thanks. You musta been really bored when you first moved here to still remember that.

Oliver (to Seychella): Oh no. Not at all. You can learn a lot about a city from the way it's laid out on a map. And, as I said, I have a very good memory.

River (to Oliver & Seychella): Oliver, are you freaking out girls with your encyclopedic knowledge, again?

Oliver (to Seychella & River): Oh. Excuse me. I didn't mean to freak you out, Seychella. I just have a very good memory, and I... I studied a lot of maps when I moved to the area.

River (to Seychella): Heh. I think he's a fucking alien... (to Oliver) Here's those damn tarts you were asking for.

Oliver (to River & Seychella): I'm not an alien. I have all the proper documentation... Oh. You were making a joke.

Seychella (to Oliver): Obviously! I barely remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, let alone my high school address. Here. Filled out to the best of my ability. (to River) ... I thought aliens had bigger heads and eyes anyway. He's got waaaaay too much hair to be one.

Oliver (to Seychella): Very good. I'm going to run this application up to Emma. Would you be available to speak to her if she has time?

River (to Seychella): Yeah, you're probably right. Just don't ask him about zip codes... Unless you have a few hours to kill.

Seychella (to River): … I'll take it you're speaking from experience on that one. Can't say it is a question I'd have ever thought to ask, though. (to Oliver) Uh... sure. I mean.. I'm not really dressed for an interview, but if she doesn't mind then I've got the time.

Oliver (to Seychella): Very good. I'll be right back.

River (to Seychella): Heh. Yeah, I needed to mail a package... Shit, I need to get back to baking. See ya!

Seychella (to River): Oh! Yeah.. nice meeting you. Wouldn't want you to burn anything on my account.

A moment later, in Emma's office:

Oliver (to Mouse): Miss Emma? Here's Seychella's application. She seems friendly enough, but she's worried she's not dressed for an interview.

Mouse (to Oliver): Oh? Well, just tell her to come back in the morning around 10am. I really need to finish sending out these invoices.

Oliver (to Mouse): Yes, ma'am.

A moment later:

Oliver (to Seychella): Seychella? Would you be able to come back at 10 tomorrow morning? Miss Emma is in the middle of invoicing at the moment.

Seychella (to Oliver): Sure thing! Thank you.. and her. I guess I'll be seeing you tomorrow!

Oliver (to Seychella): Most probably. Have a nice evening! (to River) Yes? What is it? Oh! Do you need my help with something?

River (to Oliver): Nope, just bringing you the last of the baked goods before I leave.

Oliver (to River): Oh! Very good! Thank you. I'll see you tomorrow.

River (to Oliver): Yep. See ya! And, try not to nerd all over the next pretty girl you see, ok?

Oliver (to River): Nerding all over... Oh! You mean, don't act like an "alien" in front of Seychella again, right? I'll try not to. Thank you!

A few hours later, at Aiden's house; New London, Britannia:

Mrs. Esterly (to Nathaniel & Aiden): Oh. Excuse me, boys. I hope I'm not interrupting.

Aiden (to Mrs. Esterly): ... What is it, Mrs. Esterly?

Nathaniel (to Mrs. Esterly): Oh shit. Uh, no! We were, um... There's really no reason to lie, is there?

Mrs. Esterly (to Nathaniel & Aiden): Hee hee. No. Not really, dear. I'm terribly sorry to interrupt, but I have a favor to ask you, Nathaniel.

Nathaniel (to Mrs. Esterly): Oh. Uh... From ME? Yeah. Whatever you need, if I can help, um, sure.

Aiden (to Nathaniel): Nate, calm down.

Nathaniel (to Aiden): Oh. Um... Sorry. I'm alright. It's just, uh... Heh. Sorry.

Mrs. Esterly (to Nathaniel & Aiden): I'm glad to hear it, dear. Although. something tells me I won't have your full attention right now.

Aiden (to Mrs. Esterly & Nathaniel): Heh. I'm just sitting here.

Mrs. Esterly (to Nathaniel & Aiden): Shall I talk to you tomorrow morning? (to Aiden)  I know, dear. That's why I'm offering to come back tomorrow.

Aiden (to Mrs. Esterly): Yes, that would be perfect. Nate & I were in the middle of having a heated discussion if you must know.

Mrs. Esterly (to Nathaniel & Aiden): Of course, dear. I wouldn't assume anything else. I'm sorry I interrupted your discussion. Good night. I'll talk to you both tomorrow.

Nathaniel (to Aiden): Oh Jesus...
