A Strange New Day: Day 47

Vincent (to Eep): Mr. Gloomy, tell Mouse to give me a call once you're done distracting her.

Eep (to Vincent): Uh, she's not with me. I'm at work.

Vincent (to Delia): I'm trying to track down a wayward Mouse. My sister isn't with you, is she?

Delia (to Vincent): She came and hung out last night. We had some wine and watched the cats run around.. but she went home after. So.. no. Have you tried, oh, calling her?

Vincent (to Delia): Of course! She left me a weird message last night, and I've been trying to reach her this morning & all afternoon.

Delia (to Vincent): Huh.. well. Only thing else I can say is go to her place and see if she's there or see if robert or wanda can go check.

Vincent (to Delia): I'm checking with Ripper and Leon to make sure it's not some DJ team building. I think I'll just swing by her place. (to Ripper & Leon) Hey gents. You two fellow DJs haven't seen my sister, have you?

Delia (to Vincent): Hmm.. hopefully. What was the weird message?

Leon (to Vincent): Mouse? Nope. Not since Prom night. Been a bit caught up in setting up this getting fixed thing.

Ripper (to Vincent): Not since Saturday night. Why? What's up?

Vincent (to Delia): Nothing. She called to ask me about the movie marathon, but then sounded like she got interrupted by something. She said she'd call me back, but I'm sure she just forgot. (to Ripper) Probably nothing. Mouse left me a weird message last night, and I haven't been able to reach her all day.

Ripper (to Vincent): I'm sure she's just in her studio with the ringer off or something. But, if you need help looking for her, let me know.

Vincent (to Ripper): Yeah. I'm sure you're right. I'm just going to swing by her apartment and check on her.

Twenty minutes later:

Vincent (to Eep): I'm coming to get you. Find someone to cover your shift. NOW.

Eep (to Vincent): What? Why? I'm working until late tonight. What's up?

Vincent (to Eep): It's Mouse. I'll explain when I see you.

Eep (to Vincent): What? Is she OK? What the fuck is going on? I'm ready whenever you are.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): We intercepted a strange message from CLANNG last night, we only now got it deciphered. You're going to want to see it.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): What is it?

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): They were making arrangements for Mister Smythe to crossover. It may already be to late but hopefully, we're too early. This time/space dilation traveling isn't really my forté. It sounds like he's going to make another grab for your friend.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Somehow, I was afraid you were going to say that. Thanks for the intel, Emmett. I'm afraid he's already been here, and it wasn't my friend he was after this time. It's my sister. (to Eep) It's Mr. Smythe. I'll be there in few minutes.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Bugger it all! I'm sorry it took me so long to decipher the message! I'll get Mingan to see if she can pick up a trail. Don't worry, she's an ace tracker & will find him!

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Don't stress your lovely head, hun. It's not your fault. I will forever appreciate any help you or Mingan can provide.

Robert: My roommate just burst into our apartment, rampaged in his room for 5 min, screamed about a voodoo doll, & hopped in Vincent's car. I fantasize about living a normal life, sometimes.

Delia (to Robert): Define normal. I'm not sure normal and I have been aquainted for years now. At least not since I met Vincent.

Robert (to Delia): Ha ha! I'm not sure I can define normal, but I like to think I would know it if I saw it. Did Eep ever tell you how we met our favorite unrepentant pervert?

Delia (to Robert): No. But then Eep wasn't ever what one might call a story teller.

Robert (to Delia): Ha! Not even remotely. While Vincent was still a teenager, he had taken to following Eep around. Apparently, he ran into him at a pumpkin patch at Halloween, and it was goth-lust at first sight.

Delia (to Robert): Oh lord. A pumpkin patch, really? With the hayrides and everything? I mean, I've known vincent since he was still in his kindergoth stage when mouse brought him to work as a barback, but I never imagined he was trolling the pumpkin patch for dates!

Robert (to Delia): Ha ha! Well, I think their first meeting was a coincidence. The subsequent stalking was quite intentional, however. The first time we met, he wanted to know if I was going to seduce him, and give him his first experience with a man. He didn't mean it as an insult.

Delia (to Robert): Oh I don't imagine he did. There's still a large part of him that's still very sweet and naive. He'd hate to hear me say that.

Robert (to Delia): He is. He's a sweet kid, which is why we never minded him hanging around.

Delia (to Robert): Yeah.. although I will apologize for teaching him flirting technique. I won't claim FULL responsibility. But I did teach him some... the rest is just natural talent, I guess. lol

Robert (to Delia): Don't worry. I'm sure he would have been just as bad a flirt with or without your tutoring. You probably just made him a little more suave than he would have otherwise been.

Delia (to Robert): Well we wouldn't want him pulling hair and throwing sticks at boys he likes.

Robert (to Delia): No, not at all. Following them home is weird enough. :-P

Delia (to Robert): I swear that boy's spirit animal is a lost puppy.

Robert (to Delia): Ha ha! Well, lost puppy or no, he's done pretty well for himself. Sadly, I've seen plenty of other abused and confused queer kids wind up so much worse for wear. He's had a few missteps, and will have plenty more I'm sure, but he'll be fine. He surrounds himself with good people.

Delia (to Robert): Yeah.. occasionally I take a step back and compare him then to him now and I'm actually pretty proud of the perv. Oh yeah. He's still young. He'll be fine I think. Although I just got the overwhelming feeling that we just turned into his defacto parents in the course of this conversation

Robert (to Delia): I'll add him to the list. Mouse already calls me "Dad," because of how I acted when she and Eep first began to date.

Delia (to Robert): I'll let you know when the next pta meeting is then. :-P

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Thank you, ladies. I'm not a violent man, but I'm going to make Mr. Smythe regret coming after my family. We're at the crossover point now. Communications might be spotty, but let me know if you find anything.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Well, you've been of great assistance to us over the years, so it seems only fair that we lend you a hand.

An hour or so later:

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Just received word from Klaude. She thinks she spotted Carbuncle heading into the Vespers at the Buccaneers market, but she lost him.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Excellent! I know a dancer there. He owes me a favor as well, I believe. Tell your network to be on the lookout for a woman with a white & black mohawk and La Calavera Catrina tattoos. She may have a gray cat with her.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Will do... oh, and Klaude wants to know if you brought the tall, dark & grumpy man with you? I'm sorry... well, you know how she is.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Tall, dark & grumpy is here... I hate to disappoint a woman with a bee canon, but he's rather madly in love w/ my sister. Smythe wasn't trying to get MY attention.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): I'll break the news to Klaude gently, she'll be fine. I think she only flirts with him to amuse herself, anyway. So, was he trying to get Mister Eep's attention?

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Indeed. Smythe had Mouse write Eep a ransom letter. He's still after the doll. I don't think he realizes Mouse is my sister, so we have that in our favor, at least.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): What on earth is so special about that doll? If we had it, we might be able to find out why he wants it so much.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): I owe you ladies a much longer explanation than I can give you here. Let's just say that it's safe for now. And that our mutual friend has good reason to want to keep it safe… We just had a bit of a tangle with an electrosquid. Looks like Smythe has Esme Maladori on his payroll. You may want to warn Klaude that Prof Maladori has been stealing her designs again.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): I had heard that Maladori was still in prison. It's amazing how she never stays in there for very long.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): The worst ones never do stay incarcerated for long. Especially not ones prone to building death rays.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): OH! I just received word from Mingan. Smythe spotted in London. He has four henchman & a young lady with a cat with him.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Which London? Current, New, Sky, or Olde London?

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): New London. She says he's at the docks trying to book passage somewhere.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Excellent! I know a jump that will get us there in 2 ticks. The game is afoot, ladies!

Poppy (to Vincent & Emmett Davenport): COMMUNICATION INTERCEPTED FROM SMYTHE TO CLANNG. DOWNLOADING NOW.

Emmett Davenport (to Poppy): Thank you, Poppy, bring it to me as soon as the download is complete. (to Vincent) We'll meet you there. Godspeed, Captain Potter!

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport & Poppy): Wait... POPPY!?!

Poppy (to Vincent): HELLO, CAPTAIN POTTER. Pardon me, I was still in computational mode. Hello, Captain Potter, it's very nice to meet you.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Oh yes, Poppy! She's our newest crew member, a lovely clockwork assistant that the Klaude-o-Tron sent to us. I don't think we had her on board when you were here last.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): We've met. In an incarnation or another. That explanation I owe you? It looks like it's twofold. And it should be done over drinks. Lots and lots of drinks. (to Poppy) You're the Davenport sisters' CLOCKWORK assistant? Clockwork as in clockwork?

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Well, as much as I would love to retire to the pub, for cocktails & storytime. We should save your sister first.

Poppy (to Vincent): Yes, I am. I am a second generation automaton, my creator/mother was the Klaude-o-Tron. Would you like to see the schematics? I am very advanced.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Believe me, madame, it's the only thing keeping me from having the grand mother aneurysm of all time and space. (to Poppy) Oh God in heaven... Ask me that again some other time. There's too much to do right now.

Poppy (to Vincent): Of course, sir. I'd be happy to put the schematics on file for you for a later perusal.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): We're coming up on New London now. Alan the dancer heard them mention the Smuggler's Dock. We're headed there.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): We'll dock the Calpurnia at the usual spot. I'll round up Mingan & meet you there on foot.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Keep sharp, ladies. There's chatter on the pirate channels the irradiated eucalyptus trade has been WAY up. Maladori has something else large and nasty in store I'll wager.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): No! We had been hearing rumors that she had gotten her hands on some of Mister Moneyload's koala crew.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): I warned him to get rid of those little beasties. They can't be trusted under the best of circumstances. (to Poppy) Uh... You can call me Vincent, hun. Did the message from Smythe download yet? The message is coded, but we now have the key, so it will only take me a minute to decipher…

Poppy (to Vincent): Yes, it did... sir... Captain... Vincent. I don't really feel comfortable with such familiarity, so early upon meeting.

Vincent (to Poppy): Hun, as much as I appreciate you not bringing up our bedroom drama, I don't have the patience for faux formality right now.

Poppy (to Vincent): Bedroom drama, sir... Vincent? I have only just met you. While I am flattered & fully functional in that area. I do not think this is really the time or place. (to Emmett Davenport & Vincent): MESSAGE DECIPHERED - My dear fellows, the time has come! I will soon have in my possession something of great interest to your organization. And, you know what I want in return. I believe a meeting is in order. Feel free to bring a lot of gold as well. - Smythe

Vincent (to Poppy): Yea gods, not even slightly. I never thought I'd be so happy to see a giant, rampaging koala.

Emmett Davenport (to Poppy & Vincent): Thank you, Poppy. Can you please send a message to Captain Goodpenny? Let her know we may need her help.

Poppy (to Emmett Davenport): Yes, Emmett, certainly.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport & Poppy): Mention it's Mr. Smythe, Ms Meriwether. I'm sure she'd love another shot at her former First Mate.

Poppy (to Vincent & Emmett Davenport): I will add that to the missive, Captain Potter.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): We really need to teach Mister Eep how to fire that bee cannon properly, if he's going to offer to hold it. I mean, I'm all for chivalry, but he could at least, be useful.

Leon (to Vincent & Eep): What in the world is going on? Had my head down for a few hours and things fell apart. Where is Mouse???

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): What can I say, Ms Davenport? I'm a sucker for a pretty face. (to Leon) No worries, Leon. We found her. We'll see you soon. Hopefully.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Well, he should just stand aside & look pretty, then. Some of us are trying to take that giant koala down!

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Uh, Emmett? There seems to be a cat in a bowler hat clamped on the right hand koala's ear. You don't recognize him, do you?

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Never seen him before. Friend of yours?

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): I think... I think that MAY be my sister's cat. Really. Smythe should know better than to cross over with a kitten. It makes the cat... odd. Amateur.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle. Is it just me or is that cat smoking a cigar?

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): I take it all back! Eep just punched Hench #2 in the nose! I think he may have broken it. I didn't know he had it in him! Of course, now he looks ready to throw up. Oh, my poor delicate little flower...

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Will you please give Mister Eep a cross-dimensional communicator? It's very hard to yell to him over the screams.

Vincent (to Eep): Just talk into it, you technophobe! It'll send the message to Emmett for you. (to Emmett Davenport) Emmett? He's on the channel.

Emmett Davenport (to Eep): Mister Eep, what's the name of your lady's cat? I suggest you call him off the koala.

Eep (to Emmett Davenport): Uh, Otto. Why?

Emmett Davenport (to Eep): We're about to hit the koala with a Teslaract & I don't want to get him.

Eep (to Emmett Davenport): That can't be... Holy shit. OTTO?!

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): We're all clear! Tell Klaude to fire when ready!

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent, Eep & Poppy): Fire in the hold!

Eep (to Vincent & Emmett Davenport): Um, Otto just told me Mouse is on the ship. I'm not even gonna get INTO how weird it is the cat just fucking talked to me.

Vincent (to Eep): We just blasted a giant koala, and you're worried about the talking cat? At least he's on our side. And has GREAT fashion sense.

Emmett Davenport (to Eep): Klaude can explain to you what happened to the cat, while we figure out how to get aboard that ship.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport & Eep): I think I found us a way on board. There seems to be a familiar looking lass with a mohawk flagging us portside. Next to that HUGE fire which appears to be the ship's afterburners. Ha ha! That's my older sister for you!

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Wow, I'm impressed, most people who crossover for the first time aren't nearly so levelheaded. She is most definitely YOUR sister.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Hee hee. In every way but biology. They REALLY didn't know who they were taking on board. (to Eep) Oh for... EEP! Cry later! We still have Smythe to catch.

Eep (to Vincent): I wasn't fucking crying! I'm just... I'm relieved is all.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Klaude is bringing the Time Out around for a quick snatch & grab.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Excellent! I'll give her some cover with the Falcon. (to Eep) You're adorable, is all! But the fight isn't over. Don't get cocky, kid. This is our Death Star moment.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): That ship looks to be sinking... your sister doesn't mess around when she sabotages things.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Dear me. Not even a little bit. Any sign of Smythe?

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): No, Klaude & Mingan both searched the ship, he's long gone. But, we've got your sister... and, I should warn you, she's mad.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Oh dear... I think I'd rather face the koala again.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Would you like me to forego giving her a communicator? Wow, she's got a mouth & temper on her.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Oh my... As tempting as that sounds, no. Trust me. Better to let her have her say now rather than let her stew about it.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Alrighty then... good luck. (to Poppy) Poppy, could you please make Miss Potter some coffee or tea? She looks like she may need some.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Thank you. If you never see hide nor faboo hair of me again, you'll know how I died.

Poppy (to Emmett Davenport): Of course! Should I bring some biscuits, as well?

Emmett Davenport (to Poppy): Yes, if you could bring a couple of the biscuits with the orange & chocolate, I think that might help to soothe her temper.

Vincent (to Mouse): Hey, hun. Did Klaude hook you up with a cross-dimensional communicator? Are you OK?

Mouse (to Vincent & Eep): Yes, she did. Could someone please tell me what in holy hell is going on? How the fuck did you two get here? I have been here for four months. Four months! You two knew about this place all along? And, I've been having these weird dreams forever & you both just played dumb when I told you about them. I am so mad, I could spit! You both better start explaining.

Eep (to Mouse & Vincent): Uhhhh... Vincent?

Vincent (to Mouse): Hee hee. I'm glad to see you're OK, sweetie. To be fair to your beau, hun, he's only been here once before. And it wasn't by choice.

Mouse (to Vincent): Yes, I'm fine... stop avoiding the subject. You two better start talking now or I'm sicking Otto on you and, he's in a mood, since Emmett wouldn't let him eat the koala.

Vincent (to Mouse): All right. All right. You're going to have to get your answers from me. I'm still not sure Eep knows quite how to explain this. You haven't been gone for 4 months. Well, not from our time and place, anyway. You haven't even been gone 24 hours yet. In West Piedmont, it's still, let me see, Feb 20th, the same afternoon Eep & I discovered Smythe's note. Eep and I have been looking for you for a few weeks, but we've been skipping around a lot, so it's hard to tell you for sure. I have access to a lot of portals and pathways Smythe doesn't. Unfortunately for you, you've been stuck on the "slow route" with Smythe while we've been trying to find you.

Eep (to Mouse): Ummm, yeah. What he said.

Mouse (to Vincent): So, how long have you known about this place?

Vincent (to Mouse): Eep's only known about it a little while. I... Well, I'm a little more complicated.

Mouse (to Vincent): Of course, you are.

Vincent (to Mouse): Turns out I'm not all that firmly fixed in any one time or place. I guess no one reality could totally contain me.

Mouse (to Vincent): You've been doing this for years, haven't you? And, that's why I've been having those weird dreams every now & then?

Vincent (to Mouse): I assumed the dreams were a result of you picking up on kind of a residue off me because of your contact with Greg. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, but partially I was afraid it would put you in danger, & partially afraid you'd think I was nuts. Besides, I figured you had more than enough weirdness to deal with. You always said you wanted a normal life.

Mouse (to Vincent): Well, I'm beginning to think normal is overrated & not at all realistic. So, now what? Can we go home? Or should we try to stop Smythe? He's got something pretty nasty planned. I think he's quite insane.

Vincent (to Mouse): Oh no, make no mistake, hun. He's not insane; he's utterly ape shit bonkers.

Mouse (to Vincent): He kept talking about a "Wizard" & how he was going to stop him. Does that mean anything to you?

Vincent (to Mouse): It does. He needs something for his little plot that we currently have in my possession. It's safe right now.

Poppy (to Emmett Davenport & Vincent): INCOMING TRANSMISSION: Greetings, Davenports & Captain Potter. The Hispaniola is at your service, send coordinates for rendevous. - Captain Goodpenny

Vincent (to Mouse): It sounds like reinforcements are here, sweetie. I can take you and Eep home. It'll only be a few hours after you left. More or less.

Mouse (to Vincent): Wait... He also mentioned wanting to destroy something called clang & starting his own evil empire. It didn't make any sense, but then not a lot has lately.

Vincent (to Mouse): REALLY? Well, that IS a tasty little bit of intelligence. CLANNG was the organization that helped him cross over to our world. (to Poppy) Hey hun, I mean, Ms Meriwether, please ask Captain Goodpenny to stand by. Oh, and let her know Smythe is out there somewhere.

Mouse (to Vincent): I wouldn't mind going home, but are you going to be okay. Do you need help? Otto & I have been through a lot, and well, we're both kind of itching for a fight.

Poppy (to Vincent): Of course, Captain Potter. Should I send Captain Goodpenny suggestions for search perimeters? And, uh, why is there a robot that looks like Poppy?

Vincent (to Poppy): Well, sweetie. I know that big brain of yours has some good suggestions based on his past patterns and behaviors. So would you do me a favor and send those over to her? (to Mouse) Ha ha ha! You and I are SO alike it's terrifying. If it's a fight you want, sweetie, a fight we can give you. And... don't ask me about it now, because the less I think about it, the better, but I think that IS Poppy. An earlier Poppy. Time travel sometimes really fucking sucks.

Poppy (to Vincent): Of course!

Mouse (to Vincent): HAHAHAHA! Oh god, thank you, I needed a good laugh. (to Eep) How are you holding up, handsome? I've missed you something awful!

Eep (to Mouse): Oh God! Me too! Are you OK? I mean, are you REALLY OK? You said you've been here for four months? Jesus! I'm so sorry! We've been trying to find you for weeks. Christ! I was so fucking scared... Smythe is a maniac.

Mouse (to Eep): Thank you for coming to my rescue! I know I said not to, but I'm really happy to see you. Yes, I'm fine. Mister Smythe was a gentleman... a completely insane gentleman but he left me alone, especially after Otto bit him.

Eep (to Mouse): God. Of course! Like we wouldn't do whatever we could to find you. Uh... Not that you needed "rescuing." I'm going to buy that cat SO many cans of tuna...

Mouse (to Eep): Yeah well, Otto appointed himself my bodyguard, he's kept me safe. Though, he has picked up a couple bad habits, like the smoking, the drinking, and the poker playing.

Eep (to Mouse): Oh... uh... OK. I'm still not sure about the whole "talking cat" thing, but, whatever. I'm glad he kept you safe. If he'd rather have a case of cigarettes and a bottle of hooch, he can HAVE them.

Mouse (to Eep): You'll have to ask him yourself. He does like seafood, he likes to call it sushi. He thinks it makes him sound cultured.

Eep (to Mouse): Whatever he wants, it's his. God, I'm SO glad you're OK. I haven't been able to sleep, or eat... I've been driving Vincent NUTS.

Mouse (to Eep): I really want to curl up with you on my couch for several days.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): In addition to disabling Smythe's ship, my sister has passed along some delectable info. Apparently our favorite one-eyed psycho was plotting to not only take out our mutual friend the Wizard... but he was planning on taking out CLANNG as well, taking over their infrastructure, and starting his own empire. You may want to "accidentally" leak that to your contacts in their ranks. The less friends and resources he has the better.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): He truly is delusional! We've been trying to shut them down for years with no luck... He's got to have something else up his sleeve beside that doll. I'm sending Klaude to our friend, he'll want to hear this. Mingan is going with Goodpenny to see if they can get a bead on Smythe's location. I suggest you take your family home for now, & we can send you word as soon as we have something.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Hee hee. I think my sister might actually be a little disappointed to hear that. :-P

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Well, she is more than welcome to come back. Anyone who can take a ship down like that could come in handy.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Don't I know it? I can't help but wonder why I didn't make this a family affair from the beginning.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): And, please teach Mister Eep how to use a weapon.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): Hee hee. We'll see what we can do. I think the lad might be hopeless.

Emmett Davenport (to Vincent): Well, I don't think we'll be able to keep him away if you bring your sister. So, find out if he can do ANYTHING useful.

Vincent (to Emmett Davenport): I seriously doubt he'll voluntarily leave Mouse's side for ANY reason now. We'll teach him to cook at the very least. ;-) Thank you so very much, ladies. You've been invaluable! Contact us if you need anything. We're at your beck and call. I'll let you know if my sister overheard anything else you might find useful. (to Mouse & Eep) Well kids, looks like we're being sent back home. Mingan & Capt Goodpenny are going to try to pick up Smythe's trail. They'll contact us if they find anything, or if they need help. For now, what do you say we head home, relax, and drink several LARGE glasses of gin?

Mouse (to Vincent): Oh ok. I think we're ready to go home. Relaxing, home & gin sounds pretty good. You promise that Otto & I can come back and help? (to Emmett Davenport) Thank you Emmett! Please tell your sisters I said thanks for the rescue!

Vincent (to Mouse): They actually requested you that head back, hun. Your sabotage of Smythe's ship was QUITE impressive. Hee hee. They've also asked we teach Eep how to do something useful. The lad has a lot of passion, but no skill, I'm afraid.

Mouse (to Vincent): Well, I'm sure we can find something for him to do. Otto could teach him how to box. :-P Oh, and that explosion was because someone "accidentally" set the rum too close to the afterburner engines… It also didn't help that I used a bunch of lamp oil, too.

Vincent (to Mouse): Oh my dear, sweet, gentle sister... I don't think I've ever felt closer to you than I do right now. How do you feel about being an Interdimensional Air Pirate?

Mouse (to Vincent): Ummm, do I get my own ship?

Poppy (to Vincent): Captain Potter, Emmett has asked that I send your ship coordinates for future rendevous. Is that alright?

Vincent (to Mouse): Someone is ambitious! My goodness. You could in time. You have to earn the title of Captain, you know. Or you can do what I did, which get your OWN ship and title yourself. :-P (to Poppy) Future rendezvous she says... Good Lord. Sure, hun. That's fine. And please, PLEASE call me Vincent.

Mouse (to Vincent): Well, I guess I could be a member of your crew if you'll have me, but Otto comes with me... he'll insist.

Poppy (to Vincent): Have I said or done something wrong, sir... Vincent? I read tones of annoyance in your vocal modulations.

Vincent (to Mouse): Only if you'll both agree to call me Captain. (to Poppy) No sweetie, you've been a doll. You've actually always been a doll to me. I'm sorry. It's been a stressful few weeks. Don't worry about it. And thank you, both for your help and for calling me Vincent.

Poppy (to Vincent): You are very welcome... Vincent.

Mouse (to Vincent): Hmmm, I will when it's necessary, but I'm not doing it to stroke your ego. Otto says, 'Whatever."

Vincent (to Mouse): Tell him to unknot his tail. I was kidding! I'd be a lucky lad to have you both. And you can call me whatever you like. Of course, you realize Eep will be coming with us as well, don't you?

Poppy (to Mouse): Miss Potter, Emmett is going to be sending along a package for you into your world. It will help catalog anything you remember from your time as captive with Mister Smythe.

Mouse (to Vincent): I suppose he will... He's not going to let me out of his sight ever again, is he? (to Poppy) Oh ok. Thank you, Poppy.

Vincent (to Mouse): I would be shocked if he did. He's been INSUFFERABLE. Make him eat something when we get home, will you? He's been functioning on the bare minimum of food and sleep since we left. He actually had tears in his eyes when he saw you safe and whole standing on the deck of that ship. He'll deny it, of course.

Mouse (to Vincent): I am going to make you both such a feast when we get home. Well, I have to say that I got a bit misty too when I saw you guys.

Vincent (to Mouse): You two are just too adorable for words.

Mouse (to Vincent): Hush you... Can we go home now, little brother?

Vincent (to Mouse): We're coming up on our reentry point now. If I've got the right time line, we'll only have been gone for only a few hours.

Mouse (to Vincent): How are we going to remember what was happening? I've been gone for months & you guys for weeks.

Vincent (to Mouse): Eep and took extensive notes. Unfortunately, we couldn't didn't have all your info, but you should have the gist. If anyone mentions something that totally looses you, I've found smiling, looking thoughtful, and nodding vaguely usually works.

Mouse (to Vincent): Ok... wait... suddenly a lot of your behavior makes sense. So, how do we explain my disappearance?

Vincent (to Mouse): Hee. Not as flighty as I seem, am I? Just say you fell asleep in your studio w/ your phone off, & your brother worries too much. Now, if I've miscalculated the time lines, you might find you're "missing" a couple of days out of your memory. Don't worry. You & Eep can't stay out of your native time lines for any length of time. You'll have a few hours of confusion... But then reality will reset itself, and you'll get all your memories filled in. Eep can explain it to you if it happens.

Mouse (to Vincent): Because, he's done this once before? When exactly was that?

Vincent (to Mouse): It was right before you two started dating, actually. He'd been pulled through a doorway, so he didn't have someone like me to drop him off at the same point he left. He jumped: got pulled back into our time & place when it reset. He had a couple of hours of massive confusion when he came home.

Mouse (to Vincent): Well this will take some getting used to, but thank you for telling me all of this stuff.

Vincent (to Mouse): Thank you for not freaking out, sweetie. I, uh... I was a little worried that this would all be too much for you.

Mouse (to Vincent): Sweetie, I was brought back to life by a Grim Reaper named Greg, I'm not sure I even know what normal is anymore. So, any other weird, big secrets you'd like to get off your chest? I think I could probably handle a couple more, right now.

Vincent (to Mouse): Well, it looks like the girl I was dating for months was actually an automaton.

Mouse (to Vincent): heehee, oh god, I shouldn't laugh... I'm so sorry, sweetie. Well, that certainly explains a lot... Though, I have to admit that I was slightly hoping that she used to be a man... a robot strangely makes more sense.

Vincent (to Mouse): Her being transgendered I could handle. A robot... I just don't know what to think. How do you break an android's heart?

Mouse (to Vincent): Maybe, she was programmed to appear human? She's clearly here for a reason. Could she be here on a mission? I mean, if she works for the Davenports, wouldn't that make sense?

Vincent (to Mouse): It does. You're a natural! I suppose I'll have to ask. Hopefully, she'll talk to me. Good God... Only *I* would manage to loose my virginity to an undercover automaton. ... O. M. G. Does this mean I'm still a VIRGIN?

Mouse (to Vincent): I don't think so, if you thought she was a real girl at the time.

Vincent (to Mouse): True. And there was that whole thing with... Never mind. Fat Christ! I need a drink.

Mouse (to Vincent): Me too...

Vincent (to Mouse Eep): Oh! Hey! Looks like this is our exit. Hold on tight, kids!

Mouse: Wow, fall asleep in your studio with your phone off & your brother causes a city-wide panic.

Eep (to Mouse): Um, can I stay the night? I mean, I know it's been a LONG day, but, uh, it's been weeks since I've seen you... I mean, it, uh, FEELS like weeks since I've seen you. I mean, if you wanna just curl up in bed alone I understand, but, uh...

Mouse (to Eep): I was hoping you'd say that. It feels like I haven't seen you in months. And, I really could use some cuddle time... plus, my cat seems to have grown over night.

Eep (to Mouse): God, yeah. It's been a weird day. I'll see you in a second, Killer. I love you.
